I have a (solar + storage) dream

I have a (solar + storage) dream

I have a dream.  Every home, office, school, hospital, factory and warehouse will be covered in solar panels.
I have a dream.  Our grid will run 24×7 on solar, wind, hydro, geothermal and storage.
I have a dream.  Storage will allow 100% renewable generation on a smart grid.
I have a dream.  Personal transport will be 100% renewable electricity powered.
I have a dream.  High speed electric trains will run between Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne.
The future will be cleaner and our energy and transport more sustainable.

Solar + Storage
Since 2007 Local Power has been working to bring this dream to reality.  Will you join with us to help make this dream a reality in our lifetimes?

Storage can…
People have been asking and talking about adding battery storage to their solar PV systems in our cities for a very long time.  In fact some of the earliest uses of solar PV was in “off-grid” locations like outback homes and remote communications towers decades ago as well as in space.

Adding storage to a grid connected solar PV system can:

  • increase self consumption – a battery can increase the electricity self consumption from your solar PV array by allowing you to use that energy at night, rather than exporting all the surplus generation to the grid.
  • offer backup – with an appropriate inverter and electrical wiring changes, a battery system can provide backup electricity during a blackout to crtical loads like fridges, lights, internet and phone chargers.
  • save on electricity – electricity from the grid is becoming more expensive at peak times so by using your own stored electricity you can reduce the use of expensive electricity and lower your bills.
  • help the grid – with a smarter grid, batteries will be able to support the grid during peak times like very hot days and evenings.
