Residential Solar PV Systems That Cut Your Energy Bills

With over 15 years of experience successfully installing solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, Local Power has helped thousands of customers across Brisbane reduce their electricity bills and carbon footprint.

Why Queenslanders are Choosing Solar

When it comes to solar adoption in Australia, Queensland leads the way. More than 1 million systems have been installed across the Sunshine State, and homeowners are reaping the rewards.

Here’s why Queenslanders are turning to solar:
Energy independence – Solar reduces your reliance on energy providers and protects against rising electricity prices.

Environmental impact – Lower your carbon footprint by using clean, renewable energy.

Increased property value – Homes with solar are often more attractive to buyers and can sell at a premium. According to Realestate.com “While it’s difficult to calculate the impact of solar on the value of your home, most experts agree that it is likely to improve the selling price.”

Government incentives – Every home that installs a solar PV system is eligible for the federal STC solar rebate in Queensland.

Low maintenance – Solar PV systems typically require minimal upkeep and can last 25+ years.

What to Expect from Your Residential Solar Installation

  1. The first step is to assess your home to confirm there is sufficient roof area for the system. Shade, orientation and potential obstruction all need to be considered.

  2. We then collect data on your current electricity usage by examining your bill and daytime electricity of your home. This can be discussed over the phone or through email.

  3. After compiling all the necessary information, we provide you with an indicative pricing, a solar system sizing guide and component options.

  4. Following this, we conduct a more thorough site inspection to confirm the ideal system for your home. This also gives us an opportunity to meet in person and answer any further questions you may have.

  5. We then provide you with a formal quote for your consideration.

Frequently Asked questions

Are there any incentives for installing solar PV?
There are several government subsidies, rebates and loan options that can help you pay for a home solar system.

The Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) is a government program that uses tradable certificates called small-scale technology certificates (STCs). Homes eligible for rooftop solar can receive STCs, which effectively reduce the upfront cost of installing renewable energy systems.

In addition to STCs, various states, territories and some local councils offer subsidy schemes to help reduce the upfront cost of installing solar panels and battery systems.

What size system will be appropriate to maximise my savings?
When higher ongoing Feed-in tariff export incentives were available, it made financial sense for households to install the largest affordable system they could and reduce daytime usage and export excess power to the grid. Today, the most cost-effective approach is to install a system that closely matches your daytime energy use, allowing you to maximise self-consumption but also sizing for future needs like battery or EV charging. Local Power will work with you to determine the ideal system size for your needs.

Is my roof suitable for solar?
Our team of professional installers will first inspect your roof online to determine the orientations available and the impact of shading over the course of the year. We always follow up with an in-person inspection of your roof to confirm all the details and practicalities of your solar installation before the system will be installed.

Why should I install my solar PV system with Local Power components?
Local Power sources the highest quality components for the best price. While most components come with long manufacturer’s warranties, we believe it’s important to consider whether the warranties are likely to be around for the long term. That’s why we source from established manufacturers known for their quality products.

How quickly will my solar PV system be installed?
We work to an efficient installation schedule and generally install residential systems within 3-4 weeks.

Do I need to clean my panels?
In our experience, minimal cleaning is required for the majority of residential solar systems. Generally, rain is effective at cleaning the glass surface of solar panels. However, you should clear any debris or obstructions following cyclones or other extreme weather events.
