Local Power has been rooted in the community since it was founded in June 2007. It pioneered the community bulk buying group model for Solar PV without sacrificing quality, obtaining the highest quality products installed for the best possible price. Local Power ran multiple buying groups which benefited hundreds of homeowners, businesses and community organisations. You can read the story about our humble beginnings here.
Many kindies, schools, churches and community organisations have benefited from installing Solar PV utilising the expertise of Local Power. These organisations are now making great savings on their electricity bills freeing up their funds for their other programmes.
Contributing back to the community is in the Local Power DNA. Local Power has consistently given back to the community in many different ways both financially and in kind. Some of these ways have included:
helping local community organisations understand their electricity consumption
hosting Sustainable Homes courses
speaking at community and industry forums
contributing our knowledge by being interviewed on radio programmes
publishing solar PV safety information during the 2011 floods
donating a comprehensive energy audit to a local school
hosting a free Australian premiere screening of the “Revenge of the Electric Car” documentary
