After installation Local Power will remotely monitor your Solar PV system and proactively respond to any issues should they occur.
Fronius inverters have comprehensive monitoring features as standard and with a smart meter can monitor consumption as well as solar generation through their web portal which can be accessed via computer, smartphone and tablet.
Local Power quotes their residential systems with consumption monitoring included. This is an invaluable feature which can allow customers to have feedback about their electricity use and whether they are being powered by the solar array or from the grid. Monitoring consumption and having comprehensive usage and generation data will help with sizing and designing future battery storage options.
In the graph below the solar generation “bell curve” on a sunny day can be clearly seen. As you can see in the graph, solar generation is the outline of the green curve, grey is the usage which has been offset with solar, and green is surplus electricity exported to the grid. The unshaded area below the black line is electricity imported from the grid at non solar generating times and when there is not enough solar generation.
There is also realtime feedback on smartphones and tablets such as the screens below showing an animation of the energy flows.
On the left screen the system is generating 4.5kW while the consumption is 2.13kW meaning the site is 100% self-sufficient at the moment and is feeding an additional 2.37kW to the grid.
On the right screen later in the day generation has dropped to 3.74kW but consumption is now 4.61kW. Now the site is 81% self-sufficient and importing 875watts from the grid.
